MIRI: A Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was launched yesterday for a Kayan man who failed to return home from a hunting trip in Sungai Pelutan, Long Miri, Baram.
Five firemen from Marudi fire station led by PBK II Abd Rahman, together with the police and 12 villagers are taking part in the SAR operation.
The missing man has been identified as Ajang Lawai, 42.
According to Ajang’s brother Luhat Lawai, Ajang had gone into the jungle with a friend Felix Wan Ding, on Wednesday at 8.30pm.
“Upon reaching the hunting spot, they parted ways. Felix came back home the next day at 8am. However, Ajang has yet to return home,” said Miri Fire and Rescue chief Supt Law Poh Kiong.
Felix told the villagers that he had heard gunshots while in the jungle.
