MIRI: A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched for a man who was reported missing last Sunday.

A team of five Marudi firefighters, led by PPgB Maureen Sim, was deployed to Sungai Besanan, Sungai Tutoh, Mulu, Baram by boat from Marudi yesterday at 7am to locate the victim.

The man, identified as Robin Bantan, 51, was reported missing by his brother-in-law after he went out to trap wild animals in a nearby jungle last Sunday at 4.30pm.

A police report was lodged by the victim’s family at Mulu police station on Tuesday after he failed to return home to his farm house.

Sungai Tutoh, Mulu is located deep in the interior and could only be accessed by boat or air.

To reach the scene, it takes about five to six hours’ journey.
