LUNDU: A search and rescue (SAR) operation was initiated today in Kampung Kangka, Jalan Sempadi, for the body of a man reported missing and believed to have been attacked by a crocodile.

According to Lundu police chief DSP Damataries Lautin, the victim, identified as 56-year-old Sebarang Bingkok, was reported missing yesterday.

A family member of the victim discovered a human head floating in the river and being washed away by the current around 4pm on the day of the incident.

The head was brought to Lundu Hospital for further investigation after the family identified it as the victim’s.

“He is believed to have been eaten by a crocodile.

“A police report has also been lodged by the deceased’s family,” he said.

The search for the victim’s remaining body parts is still on, involving officials from the Lundu fire station, Civil Defence Force (APM) as well as local villagers.
