MIRI: A total of 350 participants of the 5th Sarawak 4×4 Jamboree Ultimate Borneo Adventure from seven countries kicked off their journey on Tuesday (Dec 13), travelling in 136 vehicles to explore the rugged hinterland of northern Sarawak.

The participants included those from Hungary, Canada, Germany, Singapore, India, Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak).

The convoy was flagged off in front of the new Miri City Council building here by Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew and Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang around 7.30am.

Ting hoped that the event would be carried out again next year and the following years. “My ministry fully supports this event, and we hope that it will continue next year.”

The four-day, three-night journey will cover a distance of about 500km, passing through Marudi, Beluru and Telang Usan.

The convoy is scheduled to return to the city on Dec 16.
