Sarawak ahead in vaccination last Sunday

KUCHING: Sarawak topped the list in the country for administering the most vaccine shots in a single day last Sunday (June 20).

Citing the Special Committee of Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said that the state administered 43,809 vaccine doses (first and second) on June 20.

After Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur was in second in the country with 27,296 of the first and second vaccine doses administered, followed by Selangor (16,693), Johor (13,718), Kelantan (8,342), Perak (8,311), Sabah (7,529), Terengganu (5,340), Kedah (2,496), Perlis (2,139), Penang (2,100), Pahang (1,243), Negeri Sembilan (1,002), Labuan (552) and Melaka (two).

“Until June 20, 11.59pm, the cumulative total for the first and second dose of vaccines administered in Sarawak was 796,493,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (June 21).

Dr Sim said out of the total, 610,485 people received the first shot of the vaccines while 186,008 completed two shots of the vaccines.

Meanwhile, according to a JKJAV infographic, the cumulative total for the first and second doses of the vaccines   administered in the country was 5,815,575.

Of the total, 4,202,601 people received the first dose of the vaccines while 1,612,975 people received the second dose.
