Sarawak Civil Defence Force to expand its wings

KAPIT: The Sarawak Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) will create more agencies in all districts statewide from its current 27 districts to cover all 45 districts with the recruitment of civilians as members of the civil defence so that they will be prepared for disasters at any time.

“APM is a front-line agency that is always ready to face any possibility, especially natural disasters,” Sarawak Civil Defence director PPj (PA) Abdul Wahab Rahim said during the Postponement Ceremony for the Basic Course Series 3/22 Pejabat Daerah Pertahanan Awam (PDPA) Kapit at Rahmat Cafe here, today (Dec 9).

The basic course Series 3/22 PDPA Kapit was held yestyerday (Dec 8) at Wisma Persekutuan Kapit involving 33 youth participants from the Kapit and Song districts which witnessed Private (PA) Jeniva John selected as the best participant for the basic course series this time.

During the ceremony, four Kapit PDPA officers were awarded the Civil Defence Medal.

Also present at the course postponement session was the representative of Kapit District Officer Wan Mohd Shukri Teridi, representative of Song District Officer Grace Anyi Jock and Kapit District Civil Defence Officer, Captain (PA) Mohamad Noor Ini.
