KUCHING: The Sarawak Police are committed to providing assistance to widows, orphans, and Persons with Disabilities (OKU) during the month of Ramadan.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata said all District Police Headquarters (IPD) across Sarawak are urged to conduct such welfare initiatives, which include coordinating district-level iftar gatherings throughout this holy month of fasting.

“In conjunction with the month of Ramadan, we will also organise and schedule welfare visits throughout the districts besides the State Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK).

“This will be conducted at the district level especially where there are identified officers and personnel who are in need due to illness.

“This is to acknowledge the services rendered to the PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) police force throughout the service of these officers and personnel,” he said during the Iftar Ramadan programme held at the Kuching District police headquarters (IPD) here last night (Mar 22).

Earlier, the event also witnessed 10 individuals consisting of widows, orphans, and OKU children under IPD Kuching receiving contributions and assistance through the event.

Mancha at the same time expressed appreciation to the staff of IPD Kuching for organising such an event in an effort to assist the special groups under their administration.

“Contributions are also given to these groups in commemoration and appreciation, especially to widows who have lost their husbands.

“It is hoped that the contributions provided can alleviate the burdens of the recipients,” he said.
