KUCHING: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) said it is always their stand that the Sarawak government be vested with powers to regulate education and healthcare.

Its chairman Chong Chieng Jen said they would liaise with the Ministry of Health (MOH) on the decentralisation of power, especially in the area of healthcare, to the state government.

“This will be the main agenda of Sarawak DAP and also Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH),” he told the press here yesterday.

Chong was responding to the issue of two Sarawakian medical officers — Dr Wong Wan Hui and Dr Bong Ing Hui — whose contracts were not renewed.

“The ministry is looking into this issue. And it is our stand that when it comes to education and healthcare, there should be devolution of power to the state,” he said.
