Sarawak delegation attends parliamentary conference in Canada

KUCHING: A Sarawak delegation to the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) in Halifax, Canada last August recently had the opportunity to share the state’s methods in holding the Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The delegation shared the method with ‘The Society of Clerks-at-the-Table’ (SoCATT) members.

The delegation comprised DUN Deputy Speaker and Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang, chief political secretary to the Premier and Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh and DUN Secretary Pele Peter Tinggom.

The CPC conference that was held on August 20 to 26 gathered together over 500 Members of Parliament, Parliamentary staffs and decision makers from across the Commonwealth of Nations to address critical issues faced by Parliament nowadays.

The state delegation also attended the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) General Assembly, the CPA sub-branch conference as well as the 56th SoCATT meeting.
