BAU: Sarawak Delta Geopark will help cement and boost the state’s tourism sector, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

Awang Tengah, who is also the International Trade, Industry and Investment Minister (MINTRED), said that the Tasik Biru Sarawak Delta Geopark would also help uplift the local community’s socio-economy.

“Tasik Biru Festival 2022 is a platform to promote the uniqueness available in Bau”, he said when officiating at the Tasik Biru Festival 2022 and handover ceremony of land titles under Section 18 of Sarawak Land Code for Tasik Biru yesterday.

He pointed out that the festival is able to create a spirit of unity and explore wider opportunities for the local communities as well as advance the social activities already present in Bau.

Awang Tengah added that the involvement of the private sector is important to help advance the development in an area.

He said that the partnership of both private and public sectors will help expand the infrastructure and provide the necessary facilities to develop the Bau district.

“I believe with this partnership, Bau will progress. We will see progressive development plans take place in Tasik Biru.

“This will change the landscape of Bau and it will create more opportunities for the local communities.

“The communities living in Bau will be able to enjoy the facilities and it will create more involvement in business and entrepreneurship,” he said.

Meanwhile, Awang Tengah also urged the local communities to continue to support Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and win back Mas Gading.

“My hope is that with full confidence , not only for Tasik Biru but for Bau and the rest of the state of Sarawak is that by 2030 we can achieve that aspiration”, he said.
