KUCHING: Eight taekwondo exponents from the Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF) colleted two silver and four bronze medals at the 13th Taekwondo Southeast Asia Championship event held in Kangar, Perlis recently.

Medals were won by Tan Yen Ming (silver/Male Heavy), Nurul Nur Hafizza Mahdi (silver/Female Middle), Caren Li Ying Ming (bronze/Female Light) in the Kyorugi category of the five-day event.

In the Poomsae women’s team category, Nurul Hidayah Abdul Karim, Marylyne Bungan Lian and Nur Ifa Husna Saiful took home bronze.

Another bronze medal was contributed by Nurul Hidayah Abdul Karim in the women’s individual category.

In Poomsae mixed pair category, Augustine Rudy Grocer and his teammates also took the bronze medal for Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Master Tan Check Joon who is the Sarawak Taekwondo Association technical chairman expressed his satisfaction with the performances showned by the Sarawak exponents.

“I hope those selected for the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017 will work harder and fight to win the medals for the country in August,” he said.
