BINTULU: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will not rush to make a decision on its choice of new prime minister but instead will put the interests of Sarawak first.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said that GPS would take a cautious approach before making any decision pertaining to the political crisis.
He said that any potential decision would prioritise the interests of the nation and the rights of Sarawak.
During the launch of GPS Zone 12B (Belaga and Murum) at Tapak Pesta Apau Koyan, Belaga yesterday, he emphasised that GPS did not support unstable and indecisive leadership, which could put the country in chaos and would not place priority on Sarawak.
“We in GPS prioritise the interests of the people. So, whatever decision we make, we will put the people and national interests first. GPS will also hold a meeting tomorrow in Kuala Lumpur.
“We will make the best decision for the interests of the country, and not for the interests of race or party,” said Abang Johari.
Following the country’s current political turmoil, parties involved in the crisis have begun to pay attention towards getting the support of GPS.
