Sarawak gets honour to host Malaysia Day

KUCHING: Sarawak will host the national level 2023 Malaysia Day celebration at Stadium Perpaduan here on Sept 16.

According to Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Julaihi Narawi, who is also the minister responsible for the celebration, it is an honour for Sarawak to be chosen to host the event.

“Sarawak is always referred to as a very good example of the spirit of unity. Recently, the slogan “Segulai, Sejalai” was chosen because we are always united and agree to defending unity,” he said here on Wednesday.

“Among the itinerary are special performances: Musical “Segulai, Sejalai”, performances from three regions: Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak, local artistes from around  the country and Konsert Rakyat,” he said.

The celebration themed “Malaysia Madani Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan” will be graced by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib.

Also expected to be present are the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang and the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and his wife, Datin Seri Julia Salag.
