Sarawak going big at national level MATTA fair

KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak Tourism agents and product owners will be pushing 108 local Sarawak products experiences at the MATTA fair which will be held at the Putera World Trade centre here starting today (Friday 8 Sept) and over the weekend.

Sarawak’s outing at the fair with the theme “Sarawak je” connotes the ever exotic and diverse product experiences offered at a value for money which is just 90 minutes away for a quick and memorable domestic holiday destination among West Malaysians.

Sarawak is also  named the “Malaysia’s Favourite Destination” for this MATTA Fair  and visitors at the weekend fair will be spoilt for choices with diverse tourism packages prices ranging from as low as RM 69.90.

Thirteen Sarawak travel agencies and hoteliers will participate in the fair and among them are the Greatown Travel from Sibu with Brighton Travel & Tour, Miri Borneo Travel Agencies and Tropical Adventure Tours from Miri.

Also joining the fair to showcase their product experiences are the Inter-Continental Travel, EcoGreen Holidays, Great Leap Tours, Straits Central Travel & Tours, Borneo Exploration Tours & Travel, Amogha Tours & Travel, Ibanika Tours & Travel and Paradesa Borneo all from Kuching.

The Merdeka Palace Hotel and Suites is the only sole hotel representative and SEDC Tourism Hospitality Group including the Sarawak Cultural Village will also be present. 

“This is Sarawak’s biggest contingent so far participating at this annual fair which is the biggest in the country” said Gustino Basuan, the Domestic Marketing Manager for Sarawak Tourism.

The fair opens its doors early this morning with Sarawak beingnamed as “Malaysia’s Favourite Destination”.

At the fair, Sarawak Tourism will also roll its ‘Sarawak Je’ instagram contest, with five daily winners over the three-day fair claimable at the Sarawak pavilion.

A sure favourite among fair  visitors will include  a selfie contest at the  Pavilion capturing any ‘Sarawakian’ theme and posting the photo with the hashtag #SarawakJe, #MattaFair and #AwesomeSarawak and tag @SarawakTravel and @WeLoveSarawak to be eligible for atrractive prize.

The prizes include Sarawak ethnic crafts and memorabilia and tours packages in Sarawak.

For purchases of any Sarawak packages from the Sarawak Pavilion, it will entitle purchasers for daily lucky draws and winners will stand a chance to win attractive prizes which include overnight stays at resorts or hotels in Sarawak.
