KUCHING: The Sarawak government using its own money for development and infrastructure in the state, is not to tell people that it has plenty of money and want to be sombong (show off), but it must be done for the better future of the state and its people.

Chief minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said when the state has extra revenue, it is never wrong to give it back to the people in terms of better development.

“The present Federal government (Pakatan Harapan) has cancelled the fund for the proposed projects. Don’t worry, we have the extra revenue to ensure it continues,” he said during the launch of the Batu Kawa Waterfront project at Chung Hua Batu Kawa Association Hall, yesterday.

He said the Sarawak government is committed and would continue the necessary development that is important for its people.
