KUCHING: The Sarawak Chapter of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) is aiming to attract more Indian tourists to the state this year, said its chairman Lina Tsen Pei Tsin today.

She said this effort was aimed at boosting foreign tourist arrivals in Sarawak, including visitors from Europe, the United States and Canada, in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020) campaign.

“We will intensify our efforts to promote Sarawak tourism products in the Indian market, in order to attract more tourists this year,” Tsen said in her speech at a ceremony here to launch Matta VM2020 vehicle stickers.

According to Tsen, the Sarawak Tourism Board will also explore new markets in view of the availability of direct flights to India, such as those operated by Malindo Air. – Bernama
