KUCHING: Sarawak Patriots Association (SPA) has welcomed the announcement that the movement control order (MCO) will be imposed in Sarawak from May 29 to June 11.

It however raised several questions on the state government’s plan during the 14-day lockdown.

Its chairman Datuk Dr John Lau Pang Heng said one of the matters that SPA members would like to know was what the state government’s MCO financial packages to those affected would be.

“By how much percentage would the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) like to reduce Covid-19 infections? Will the authority continue to vaccinate Sarawakians during the MCO?” he said in a statement today.

He also questioned what the state government’s plan would be like to encourage more people to register for the Covid-19 vaccination.

“Our members are waiting for answers because we support the MCO fully,” he said.

During a press conference earlier today, SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas announced the statewide enforcement of the 14-day MCO.
