KUCHING: Sarawak police are investigating three reports related to statutory declarations (SDs) made by MPs during last week’s political crisis.

Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said the reports were made on Sunday evening.

“The reports involved ministers’ party hopping and SDs. The same reports stated that there were elements of bribery in the SDs.

“This matter is still under investigation and we will refer to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on that part,” he told reporters at the General Operations Force (GOF) Sarawak Brigade headquarters in Batu Kawa here yesterday.

Aidi further stated that police had recorded the complainants’ statements and this would be followed by investigation to verify the validity of the statements.

He also mentioned that so far, Sarawak remained peaceful and wasn’t affected by issues in the form of protests or rallies.

“However, we (Sarawak police) are always prepared for any possible circumstance.

“I hope everyone will not use the mass media to convey any seditious remark or stir up sentiments on the political situation because it is against the law,” he continued.

On his visit, he noted that the GOF were to brief him on the Sarawak-Kalimantan border security issues as well as several ‘laluan tikus’ (hidden trails) along the border.
