LUNDU: Sarawak has become the only state in Malaysia that is politically stable and is not marred by leadership problems.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the state government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) had successfully carried out its responsibilities well.

He viewed that the GPS leadership has been able to deal with issues faced by the community effectively and prudently.

“We are among the states that are stable in terms of politics. Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has the best formula to continue developing the state,” he said when met here on Sunday (Sept 27).

Dr Abdul Rahman who is Utilities Assistant Minister (Water Supply) said Abang Johari emphasised on long-term economic development through the digital economy while at the same time increasing state revenue through the oil and gas.

In terms of health, he said, the state government through its Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) that has handled various issues stemming from the Covid-19 outbreak systematically.

“This needs to be maintained and we must ensure that Sarawak continues to be led by competent leaders,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman who is Pantai Damai assemblyman said Sarawak is closely monitoring the Sabah State Election to ensure the 12th Sarawak State Election (PRN12) runs smoothly.

“We can see that the majority of voters in Sabah choose elected representatives who are often on the ground, friendly with the community and not those in positions or ranks.

“Their voters also support a government which can help alleviate the burden of the people due to Covid-19 as well as a government that can address the ongoing political crisis,” he explained.
