Sarawak records 416 new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak today recorded 416 new COVID-19 cases, 407 of which were categories 1 and 2 cases.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the other nine cases, three cases had lung infections, five cases required oxygen supplies while one case required the use of a ventilator.

“Kuching registered the most cases with 136, followed by Sibu with 95 and Miri with 75 cases,” it said in its daily COVID-19 update today.

The SDMC said a new cluster, dubbed the Lorong Siol Kandis cluster, was also detected in Kuching.

It explained that the new cluster involved a school located at Lorong Siol Kandis here.

“Of the 29 individuals who were screened, nine people were found to be positive while the rest tested negative.

“Those who tested positive were placed at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), PKRCs and CACs,” it explained.

The SDMC added that no death cases were registered today.
