Sarawak reports 142 new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 142 new COVID-19 cases today, pushing the cumulative total number of cases to 304,574.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement disclosed that 140 cases were in categories 1 and 2 while two cases were in categories 3, 4, and 5.

“Kuching recorded the highest number of cases at 34 followed by Miri (22); Bintulu (20); Sibu (17) Serian (eight), Samarahan (eight), and Asajaya (seven).

“While four cases were reported in Limbang, three new cases each were reported in Mukah, Simunjan and Daro and two cases each in Sri Aman, Pusa and Betong.

“And one case each was reported in Bau, Lubuk Antu, Telang Usan, Dalat, Tebedu, Kanowit and Lawas,” the committee said.

 SDMC added that one new COVID-19 death was also reported.

It said the death recorded on Thursday was that of a 90 year old woman from Kuching. She had diabetes, high blood pressure and lung diseases and passed away at the Sarawak General Hospital.
