KUCHING: A total of 127 officials and athletes from Sarawak water operators are representing the state at the ongoing Malaysian Water Supply Games (SBAM) 2023 in Kedah from Aug 23 to 28.

The agencies involved are the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication, Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department, Kuching Water Board, Sibu Water Board and LAKU Management Sdn Bhd.

Their participation has received solid support from Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi and his Deputy Ministers Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Datuk Liwan Lagang.

SBAM, organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, is a bi-annual sports event organised for all water operators throughout Malaysia and water-related companies such as Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd and National Water Services Commission (SPAN).

Among the games involved are football, netball, bowling, sepak takaw, sepak raga tuju, badminton, darts, table tennis, golf and volleyball.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Kedah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor yesterday.

Kuching Water Board general manager Rodziah Mohamad was also present at the ceremony.
