KUCHING: Sarawak Shell and Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (Tegas) recently rewarded the winners of the fifth edition of Sarawak Shell LiveWire 2020.

The five Sarawakian winners each received a seed grant of RM6,000 as well as mentoring and coaching support from Shell LiveWire facilitators for the next nine months.

The recipients are Moses Lejau Vinsien (EdaBeran), Mohammad Hisham Khairul Nasir (WeGo), Fitriah Rahbi (KunProduct), Mohammad Hajib Ali (Farm4All) and Sara Nadia Suib (Mariadra Beauty).

“We are ecstatic to partner with Shell for Sarawak Shell LiveWire and work towards creating an inclusive start-up ecosystem in Sarawak.

“Through the partnership, we believe that we can accelerate the growth of local start-ups and elevate them to the next level,” said Tegas chairman Datuk Len Talif Salleh.

“Their businesses (the five winners) will also be considered for the Shell Malaysia value chain.”

Meanwhile, Shell Malaysia chairman and Upstream vice-president Ivan Tan pointed out that this year’s programme utilised virtual platforms to assist the participants impacted by movement restrictions due to the pandemic.

“The virtual programme featured multiple sessions specifically held to introduce the processes of entering the energy industry to the 30 entrepreneurs.

“This included a joint session with the Sabah LiveWire participants on Shell contracting and procurement requirements to build confidence among the entrepreneurs to be a part of the Shell Malaysia value chain.”

Shell LiveWire is an entrepreneurial programme that seeks to unveil potential start-up entrepreneurs.

A total of 30 entrepreneurs from various locations in Sarawak participated in the Sarawak Shell LiveWire 2020 programme, beginning their journey with a series of entrepreneurship webinars since last September.

Among the judges were Jasmin Dadi of Tegas, Sarawak Shell senior contracting and procurement manager Yip Yoke Hwa along with Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation innovation and entrepreneurship head Hazwan Razak.
