Sarawak spirit shines during Covid-19

Date:

KUCHING: The Sarawak spirit has been fully exemplified by concerned citizens and frontliners during the battle against Covid-19, says Sarawak Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

“Our frontliners and our concerned citizens are indeed the unsung heroes of Sarawak.

“Their display of patriotism and volunteerism in helping other fellow Sarawakians is beyond the call of duty. This is truly the spirit of Sarawak.

“This spirit of patriotism is what we need for the sake of our beloved Bumi Kenyalang and Covid-19 gives us opportunity to bring all Sarawakians together as a nation,” he said during the Sarawak Day celebration on Thursday (July 22).

Dr Sim said the role played by frontliners and healthcare workers since the start of Covid-19 had been beyond extraordinary.

“We must also convey similar gratitude to who helped the needy through their various contributions of food, personal protective equipment, face masks, hand sanitizers, oxygen and other necessary items.

“They comprise those from the non-governmental organizations, associations, as well as individuals who have taken the time and effort to give such donations to those in need in this very trying time.”

Dr Sim said Sarawakians must remain united in facing the challenges ahead.

“I hope that all Sarawakians will also continue to follow the standard operating procedures set by the government for our own safety and security as we start living with Covid-19.”
