Sarawak targets full electrification by 2025

KUCHING: Sarawak Ministry of Utilities targets to achieve full electrification by 2025, according to Minister Datuk Seri Stephen Rundi Utom.

At present, he said the 24-hour electrification coverage had reached 91 per cent with approximately 29,600 rural households enjoying it.

“The state government has set aside special allocation amounting to RM2.37 billion for 2019 and 2020 to increase electrification coverage for rural households from 91 per cent to 97 per cent,” he said in a statement here today.

The minister, who is also the assemblyman for Kemena, said for Subis district, said a total of seven rural electrification projects (BELBs) had been completed involving 187 households at a total cost of RM11,090,574.13.

Four projects in the Suai Niah area are underway while two other projects have been planned for implementation under the Rural Electrification Master Plan, he added. – Bernama
