KUCHING: The presence of S Balachandran at the Blood Bank of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) today has garnered attention from members of the public.

The Sarawak United Football Club (SUFC) was among the first-time donors at the blood bank and medical staff did not pass up the opportunity to take photos with him.

He said this was the first time he donated blood here since taking over SUFC and was impressed with the facilities at the blood bank.

He has donated blood since he was 18 years old and often donated about once in three months when in Kuala Lumpur.

Head of blood transfusions service Dr Masrin Md Zahrain expressed his gratitude to Balachandran for coming in to donate blood.

“Thank you for coming here to donate blood and supporting us and for the patients here who need blood.

“For your information, in Kuching, we need about 70 pints of blood per day, so that’s the amount that we needed for the hospital.
