KUCHING: World Chinese Badminton Federation (WCBF) president Jun Yan Wu commended Sarawak for being a very good host to the 26th World Masters Badminton Championship. The tournament is being held here from Oct 31 to Nov 3 at the newly built Multi-Purpose Arena and the State Indoor Stadium in Petra Jaya.

Jun said the event is a great success and attributed it to full support from the state government and all the related bodies and individuals who have contributed to the event.

“I am very happy that just within two months after my last visit there, the state government has completed the badminton arena which is of world standard.

“This proved the full commitment of the Sarawak government and we are confident that we can bring more badminton tournaments here,” said Jun at a welcoming dinner for officials and players at a hotel on Friday night.

Jun said the championship was a huge and important event to Sarawak and all the players around the world as it was the largest WCBF competition that is being held outside China.
