KAPIT: Sarawak, as part of the region that formed Malaysia, will continue to remain a part of the country and develop as enshrined in the Federal Constitution and Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state government has a solid plan and policy to ensure that Sarawak will continue to be peaceful and prosperous especially after the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will also continue to adapt ourselves to the ongoing developments across the country.

“As a result, we have established the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 to ensure that the economy continues to improve as we face an increasingly challenging world by 2030,” he said.

He said this in his speech during the tea banquet in conjunction with the state-level birthday celebration of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Kapit Town Square today.

According to Abang Johari, the government has devised a number of strategies, which are outlined in the PCDS 2030.

“Under PCDS 2030, a number of initiatives will be launched to ensure that the state continues to prosper and that the economy can be distributed comprehensively to the people,” he said.

The premier also stated that the state government is aiming for an annual economic growth of six to eight per cent, and that in order for this plan to succeed, the people’s collaboration and strong support, as well as the participation of all parties, are required.

“Sarawak has various resources to contribute to stronger economic growth, including hydrogen, forest resources, oil and gas, agricultural products, coal, industry, tourism and so on,” he explained.

On another note, he stated that the government and people of Sarawak appreciate His Majesty and Raja Permaisuri Agong’s visits to Sarawak this year, which demonstrates their concern for Sarawak’s people.

Abang Johari described His Majesty as an umbrella that protects and unites everyone regardless of race, religion or political affiliation.
