KUCHING: Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS) will implement the Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) for five years, beginning next year.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the plan was an anti-corruption policy document, aimed to address the problems and weaknesses of governance, weaknesses of integrity and weaknesses of anti-corruption at organisational-level.

“JWKS has appointed Ahmad Il Yassin Azman as a Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) Series 23 No. 3 2019 and has been commissioned from Aug 4 to Oct 9 this year, thus becoming the officer responsible for the successful implementation of the OACP for JWKS.

“I was informed that the first draft of OACP-JWKS was presented to the State Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (Union) and was submitted on Nov 19 this year.

“This was done after the OACP Implementation Workshop and Purification of Corruption Risk Management (CRM) of JWKS from Jan 21 to 23 last year, OACP-JWKS Compliance and Monitoring Briefing on Sept 25 this year, and OACP-JWKS Purification Workshop on Nov 5 and 6 this year.”

She said this in her speech delivered by Assistant Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Rosey Yunus at the Hi-Tea of JWKS Integrity Day 2020 held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here on Monday (Dec 7).

Among the initiatives that had been implemented according to OACP-JWKS was the Integrity Pact, which is a declaration letter by civil servants involved in procurement (Appendix A), during the JWKS Tender Interview on Nov 25 and 26 this year.

“With the existence of OACP-JWKS, together we are moving towards a vision of high-integrity and corruption-free department administration, achieving the mission of cultivating high integrity practices and creating a corruption-free work culture, and with the aim of increasing trust, transparency and accountability in service delivery as well as closing space and opportunities for corruption misconduct.”

Also present were state union director Adana Jed, JWKS director Noriah Ahmad, the ministry’s acting permanent secretary Caroline Cleophas Joseph and Ahmad.
