KUCHING: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak will hold a Sarawakiana Talk Series titled History of the Advent of Islam in Sarawak on Saturday at 10am on the Pustaka Negeri Sarawak official social media platforms (Facebook and YouTube).
This talk will be delivered by Dr Saimi Bujang, a lecturer from the Faculty of Academy Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS), Universiti Teknologi Mara, Sarawak.
This talk is based on research performed by a variety of sources, including Western, Middle East Chinese Archipelago, and local.
There are five subs-topic – Arab and archipelago relations before Islam, Arab and archipelago relations after Islam, Islam in the archipelago, Islam in Sarawak, and the formulations.
There is also an explanation of occurrences, manuscripts, and finds of Islamic objects in the archipelago prior to the 14th century AD.
Meanwhile, the debate on Islam in Sarawak will cover the history of Islam’s emergence in Sarawak as well as the Old Kingdoms of Sarawak from different perspectives other than Santubong.
