Sarawakians eager for royal return

KUCHING: Sarawakians are looking forward for the return of the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah following his recent five-day official tour of the state, which began on Monday (Jan 15).

Tengku Hassanal departed for Pahang today (Jan 19). His special aircraft left Kuching International Airport (KIA) for the Subang Air Base at 12.20 pm.

His departure was accompanied by several dignitaries, including the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy State Secretary, Datuk Hii Chang Kee, and others.

Before leaving, Tengku Hassanal attended a morning reception with government agencies at a local hotel, then proceeded to the VVIP Terminal at KIA.

On Thursday evening (Jan 18), he graced a banquet aboard the Sarawak River Cruise. He was welcomed at the Kuching Waterfront’s cruise terminal at approximately 7.56 pm by Dr. Abdul Rahman and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting.

During the cruise, the Regent engaged with the public, waving to the enthusiastic crowd along the Sarawak River. He later savoured a selection of local traditional dishes, concluding his time on the cruise around 9.42 pm.

As a parting gesture, he presented a souvenir to Ting.

Earlier that day, Tengku Hassanal visited the Algae Nursery Site Resintech SEDC at the Demak Laut Industrial Park. He then continued his afternoon with a visit to the PETROS Darul Hana Multi-Fuel Station.
