KUCHING: As Christmas approaches this coming Sunday (Dec 25), Sarawakians are returning to their respective hometowns to celebrate the joyful occasion with their loved ones.

Some of them have not been back to their hometowns in a very long time, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and now they are more than excited and happy to finally be able to do so.

When met at the Kuching Sentral Terminal bus station recently, Cathrine Elshaday, a 19-year-old student from Mas Gading Community College, said that she had not been back to Belaga, Bintulu for almost a year due to the pandemic.

“I will be going back to my hometown for two months because it is my semester break, so I am very excited,” she said.

Cathrine also hoped that in 2023, things would be back to normal and people could celebrate festivities freely.

Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student Amy Lenggai stated that she took the opportunity to buy a bus ticket to her hometown Sri Aman and would be home for a week to celebrate Christmas and New Year.
