SIBU: The public has been told to preserve and strengthen bonds among the community from various backgrounds.

According to Political Secretary to Sarawak Premier Sayed Azmiee Wan Junaidi, festive celebrations such as Hari Raya, together with people from various backgrounds, prove that they are living in harmony.

“This demonstrates how much we appreciate the harmony that has existed for so long, particularly in Sarawak and Malaysia.

“We have been celebrating Hari Raya for almost a month now, still in a joyful, happy, and prosperous atmosphere. Together, we maintain the celestial and harmonious state that has existed for so long,” he said.

He said this in his speech at Sibu Senior Citizens Activities Centre (Pawe) Hari Raya celebration attended by 150 participants at Dewan Lakis here yesterday (May 1).

“Our leaders have fostered or led us to show a good bond among the various communities, and this is evident from every piece of advice from our top leaders in our state.

“So, at the community level, we need to continue what has been suggested or established and desired by our state leaders,” he added.

He stressed that without harmony, close cooperation, and prosperity among the various religious and ethnic communities in Sarawak, the success of building this state could not be achieved successfully.

“I, as the next generation, would like to express gratitude for the guidance, for the spirit that has been shown and has been given so that we, as the next generation, can continue to maintain the good relations and unity that have been created and nurtured by previous generations,” he said.
