LUBOK ANTU: Sarawakians are urged to become environmental partners under the Peatland Fire Prevention and Monitoring Community programme.

In a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Dr Hazland Abang Hipni made the call to ensure communities would cooperate with the Department of Environment.

In addition, Dr Hazland also suggested that the local authority in Lubok Antu reorganise the tender system for grass-cutting work to prevent river pollution.

He said this at the opening ceremony of the Environmental Partners Tour Programme under the Peatland Fire Prevention and Monitoring Community programme in conjunction with the state-level World Ozone Day celebration at Rh Edwin Joel, Nanga San Panjai recently.

Also present was Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, who is also the Batang Ai assemblyman.
