SRI AMAN: Sarawak Information Department (JaPen) director Swady Guliling has urged Sarawakians to fly the Jalur Gemilang national flag at their premises, homes or vehicles to celebrate Hari Merdeka.

JaPen through its Jalur Gemilang convoy (KJG) programme is holding the state-level Kibar Jalur Gemilang campaign, which started on Aug 16 in Kuching.

Swady, met upon KJG’s arrival at their second destination of Simanggang on Thursday (Aug 26), said flying the Jalur Gemilang was a sign of unity in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also reminded the public to always respect the Jalur Gemilang and the Sarawak flag by avoiding inappropriate usage of these flags.

Earlier, the convoy installed the Jalur Gemilang at several strategic locations in Simanggang, such as Taman Panorama Benak, Sri Aman Waterfront, Kampung Hulu, and the Kampung Sembau roundabout.

He hoped that the convoy programme would inject the spirit of patriotism in the people to celebrate the national month even though the country is currently facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
