KUCHING: The Sarawak government has launched ‘SarawakID Corp’ as a platform to create a digital identity for businesses, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and associations in the state.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg launched the platform during his visit to Sarawak Civil Service Digitalisation Unit (SCSDU) exhibition booth at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Wednesday.

Earlier, Abang Johari officiated at the 27th World Congress on Innovation and Technology| 6th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (WCIT|IDECS 2023).

The ‘SarawakID Corp’ will make it easier for all organisations to access government digital services smoothly and carry out business-related transactions online.

“The implementation of ‘SarawakID Corp’ will begin with the registration and renewal of contractors and consultants with the Contractor and Consultant Registration Unit (UPKJ) and is expected to benefit approximately 9,000 contractors and consultants.

“Among the services offered by ‘SarawakID Corp’ at the earlier stage is making payments for utility bill and assessment bill while 20 other services will be added by 2024.
