KUCHING: The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) with the help of other agencies is still dousing the remaining peat fires around SK Kuala Baram 2 in Miri.
Bomba’s personnel conducted direct ground attacks to extinguish sector 1 of the area while Naim’s emergency response team conducted direct ground attacks and total flooding at sector 2.
In sector 3, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) carried out water bombing.
Meanwhile, the Air Pollutant Index (API) on the Department of Environment’s website reported that the readings in Sarawak were at moderate level as of 3pm yesterday.
Kapit recorded an API reading of 41, Kuching (65), Kota Samarahan (56), Sri Aman (71), Sarikei (55), Sibu (56), Mukah (52), Bintulu (53), Samalaju (52), Miri (53), IPL Miri (89), SK Kuala Baram 2 (64), and Limbang (51).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department forecasted that Sarawak would not experience any rain from today until next Monday (Aug 26).
However, on Thursday (Aug 22), there will be isolated rain in the morning and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon.
