KUCHING: Sarawak is top of the list in terms of states given emphasis on development by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said this is in line the nation’s Shared Prosperity Vision (SPV) 2030 to turn Malaysia into a developed nation with equal wealth sharing regardless of ethnicity, income group or region.
“Sarawak will be among the states that will be given priority by the PN government in whatever development programmes to bridge the economic gap in the state,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (July 22).
Earlier he joined Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) MPs for lunch to celebrate Sarawak Day at the Parliament building.
Muhyiddin said national integration is an important element towards a stable and prosperous nation.
“Efforts to unite the rakyat through racial integration has started a long time ago.
“In the context of Sarawak, the PN government is committed to pursuing this agenda to ensure that the Land of the Hornbills will continue to be developed,” he said.
Muhyiddin said July 22 every year is a historic date for Sarawak and its people.
“On this date, the people are celebrating Sarawak Day to remember the contributions and sacrifices of past leaders and independence fighters.
“In line with Sarawak Day, I want to wish Sarawakians a happy Sarawak Day,” he said.
