KUCHING: Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has, on behalf of the people of Sarikei, thanked Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for announcing the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance 5.0 (BKSS 5.0) in an effort to drive the state’s economy and help the people of Sarawak.
He described Abang Johari as an excellent leader, adding that his leadership is needed in order to enjoy political and economic stability towards improving the living standards of the people of Sarawak.
He said the BKSS 5.0 package comprised assistance measures to ease the burden of the people including traders affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The Sarawak government has implemented various initiatives through BKSS 5.0 involving an allocation of RM405 million and this has provided practical assistance to the people of Sarawak,” he said in a recent statement.
Huang noted that BKSS 5.0 extended assistance measures for a period of six months from January to June this year.
“In particular, there are provisions of discounts on water and electricity bills, as well as exemptions and postponements of licence payments, land premium, and small and medium industry loans,” he said.
At the same time, he said Sarawak is facing the Covid-19 pandemic which had impacted the economy and daily lives of people.
“The BKSS 5.0 package is the latest initiative to ease the burden of the people of Sarawak in facing the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Huang.
He urged everyone to work together to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The BKSS 5.0 package was announced by the chief minister on Jan 21, encompassing 11 measures to reduce the burden of Sarawakians until June.
