KUCHING: The Sarawak Foundation (Yayasan Sarawak) will prioritise financial assistance to Sarawakians studying at public and selected private universities as well as those pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses.

According to a statement today, Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), Universiti Teknologi Swinburne Sarawak Campus and Universiti Curtin Malaysia are among the private universities chosen.

It added apart from giving financial aid, they also provide a top-up on education when existing financial help is insufficient to cover tuition fees.

“With more upcoming education fairs, students, particularly those who have recently completed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), should take advantage of this opportunity in order to plan their path to further their studies.

“This will help to reduce any miscommunication between parents and students when dealing with universities, colleges and financial aid providers,” it stated, adding that parents and students could talk with their officers about financial aid options during the education fairs.

Their scholarships and educational loans can be applied online through the Sarawak Foundation official website.

“Educational fairs are one approach to reach out to students and advise them on the best course of action for furthering their education.

“Apart from universities and colleges, financial assistance providers including the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and us will also participate in the exhibition to help students with their financial concerns,” it stated.

Yayasan Sarawak had taken part in a number of exhibitions across the state.

They are now resuming their active involvement in reaching out to Sarawak students who require financial aid to continue their studies.
