KUCHING: SK Green Road is all set to celebrate Deepavali. Yesterday, assistant headmaster Rohaidah Ismawi gathered all her students, regardless of ethnicity and racial backgrounds, to decorate their common hall with all things Indian.

SK Green Road, a school with the most number of Indian students year in year out, has a Tamil class in its curriculum.

Despite that, it is only this time around that the school is embarking on a full-scale Deepavali celebration, starting with putting colourful decorations that its students brought from home.

One piece of decoration that stands out is the rangoli art of northern India, or its more familiar cousin, the kolam.

With the decorations adorning much of the school, any visitor will not miss the strong presence of Deepavali and the excitement of the pupils as they wait for Sunday to arrive.
