KUCHING: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) RPR Jalan Astana will be closed for seven days from Oct 19 until Oct 25 for disinfection works to be carried out, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

Committee chairman and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this followed a recent Covid-19 case which was linked to the school.

Uggah said among the other decisions made by SDMC were to urge local authorities to close entertainment outlets which flouted the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that required them to close by midnight.

“The local authority was instructed to issue a notice of such instructions especially for entertainment centres that violate the SOPs.

“Local authorities are required to take steps to close the premises for 14 days,” he said.

Uggah also urged all agencies in the state to comply with the SOPs issued by SDMC and not issue contradicting instructions to prevent public confusion.
