SIBU: SJK (C) Kiew Nang continues to receive more aid to help it recover from a May 21 fire that destroyed a number of its facilities.

A community leader of Kiew Nang Poh, Kapitan Connie Loh, said yesterday that she had responded to the school’s call for assistance.

Loh said the chairman of the school board of management, Tiong Hock Kieng, had approached her to buy chairs and tables costing a total of RM17,160.

“I am donating RM5,000 while my family members gave another RM3,000. For the balance, I am raising them from several organisations,” she said.

Loh, the chairperson of KRT Kiew Nang Poh, said furniture pieces are being made now.

“We hope to hand them over when the new school term starts,” she said.

On May 23, Lanang MP Alice Lau announced an allocation of RM500,000 to rebuild the facilities which were destroyed in the fire.

Of the amount, RM350,000 came from the Education Ministry while the RM150,000 came from her MP fund.
