School PIBG receives RM5,000

KUCHING: A sum of RM5,000 was given to the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SK St Norbert in Kampong Paun Gahat, Serian for the school to organise various

activities and programmes this year.

DAP Serian chairman Edward Luwat said the allocation was from Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Deputy Minister, Chong Chieng Jen.

The cheque for the amount was handed over yesterday to the

principal of the school Salang Bana by DAP Serian chairman Edward Andrew Luwak on behalf of Chong, who is also Kota Sentosa assemblyman and Stampin MP.

The PIBG of the school wrote to Chong requesting for some financial allocation to enable the school to organise activities ranging from educational, social, cultural and sports.

Edward said the educational program comprised of “Kem Motivasi Pengawas” (“Prefect Motivational Camp”), “Kem Pepimpinan Pengawas” (“Prefect Leadership Camp”) and “Kem Klinik UPSR” (UPST Clinic Camp”).

“These leadership camps are aimed at nurturing leadership skills of students and to improve the performance of students in their examinations,” he said.

The school also organised other activities such as badminton,

rugby, chess, and football tournaments among students of the school as well as friendly competitions with neighbouring schools annually.

He said the cultural and social programmes include the celebration of this year’s Gawai festival and the promotion and preservation of cultural songs and dances.
