SMK Merbau’s principal Jumari Hashim, when met yesterday, attributed the improvement to the school’s teachers for their commitment and students’ comprehensive focus in their studies.

“We initiated a final countdown programme, where students were given extra exercises and teachers spent time to give final guidance until the examination day,” he said.

He added that the school’s focus was to nurture holistic students by emphasising on their academic and instilling leadership through various co-curricular activities.

Of the 581 students who sat for the examination this year, eight of them scored ‘A’s in all subjects, compared to none in the previous year and 2017.
