Schools closure extended to May 10

KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has agreed to extend the period of closure for learning institutions under the purview of Ministry of Education (MOE) and other private learning institutions registered with MOE, including international schools from May 4 until May 10.

“The decision was made during a meeting between the committee, MOE and state education department, following the announcement on home-based teaching and learning method (PdPR) for upcoming school session by Senior Minister (Education Sector) Dr Radzi Jidin on April 26.

“During the period, PdPR will be continued as before. Form Six students who are sitting for their third semester of Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) (Replacement) are allowed to attend physical lessons until May 27,” SDMC said in a statement on Wednesday (Apr 28).

The committee also announced that enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will be enforced at Baleh Hydroelectric construction area in Putai, Kapit from April 26 until May 23.

It added that the Emco at Rumah Japam, Rumah Johnson and Rumah Junis in Sarikei will be extended from April 27 until May 10 and from April 28 until May 4 for Rumah Bajak in Julau.
