MIRI: It doesn’t pay to fool around if you are someone else’s wife.

A housewife accused of having extramarital affairs was allegedly beaten up by her husband at Jalan Balim Niah, Saeh Niah on Wednesday (May 4).

The furious husband apparently went berserk with a machete around 6pm because he suspected his wife of having an affair. The assaulted wife suffered injuries to her left shoulder.

The victim’s mother-in-law went to the police station at 11.13pm and lodged a police report which led to the arrest of the man.

A team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Division (CID) team also seized the machete.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspect was arrested in the wee hours of Thursday (May 5).

Background checks found that the suspect had past records.

The suspect is currently remanded until May 9 to facilitate investigations under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code as well as Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act.
