KUCHING: Sarawak Community Policing Association (SCPA) together with the police yesterday conducted a crime prevention exercise at the BDC shopping complex here.

A team of 10 SCPA members, led by its chairman Datuk Dr John Lau Pang Heng, and six policemen took part in the programme.

The aim of the exercise was to ensure that every citizen took precautions and adopt preventive measures in crime prevention.

“Crime tends to take place everywhere, but when we take precautions, it will minimise the chance for those with a criminal mind to target us,” Lau said.

He said from the conversation with members of the public, SCPA learned that the community now was much safer than five years ago.

“Therefore, it is important that every citizen take preventive measures in pursuit of crime prevention so that our community will be safer and more peaceful,” he said.

On March 15, SCPA will also be conducting the same programme at Pelita Heights, BDC.
