Screening centre moved to basketball court

The Bintulu Basketball Association court is being used as a Covid-19 screening centre.

KUCHING: The Covid-19 screening centre managed by the Bintulu Health Department has been relocated to Bintulu Basketball Association court.

Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the change, effective Thursday, was made due to limited space at the existing location to allow for Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be observed.

“The existing location will be closed as the space is too restricted and difficult to allow for physical distancing,” he said in a Facebook post.

He said the Bintulu Basketball Association court not only is able to accommodate more people but is more comfortable and practical for the visiting public.

“The public is also protected from the sun while waiting for their turn to undergo the Covid-19 test in addition to having more spaces for parking their vehicles,” he said.

Tiong hoped that the public would understand the reasoning behind the switch.

“We are now in a critical time, people are willing to come out in large numbers to test themselves, therefore, the decision to relocate has been made given the limited space in the original location,” he said.

At the same time, he urged the public to come forward for Covid-19 screening from 8am to 11.30am and 2pm to 4.30pm.
