21 PARTICIPANTS of Ain’t Just Model 2017 recently strut their confidence on the T-Stage of Viva City Shopping Mall

ACCORDING to Winson Voon during the Ain’t Just Model showcase on June 25 at Viva City Shopping Mall Kuching, “Confidence comes from the person and not the clothes the person wear”. Ain’t Just Model 2017 is the first established platform for talents to be sculptured into the next rising star within the modelling industry, and is the first in East Malaysia.

The modelling workshop is aimed to equipped participants with related modelling knowledge before entering the competitive industry. The 5-day intensive training includes hairdo and make-up tutorial classes, Cat-walk Training, Photo and Video shooting skills and practices, and Fashion Lead Training.

According to organiser Nikc Ng, “Starting in entertainment industry is hard, however to survive in the entertainment line is harder, thus, we request guidance and tips from the experience instructors and guests, to ensure students are competitive in the industry”.

Training was done by two local celebrities, Nina Carron Kho, a new rising celebrity who is actively involved in commercial shooting, winning multiple pageants awards and Winson Lim, a passionate model in commercial shooting, modelling coaching as well as a fashion icon in fashion project runway. Ain’t Just Model 2017 Grand Showcase recently at Viva City Shopping Mall were further exhilarated by celebrities from Kuala Lumpur and Kuching such as Wilson Tan, Darren Tan, Gary Cheok, Jacky Kam, Josh Yen and Winson Voon.

The showcase, held on a Tstage, gave opportunities to participants to experience first hand in shining on stage as a model after their intensive training. Three sessions during the showcase, Introduction Session; On Stage Shooting and The Elegance; acts as pre-test for them before entering the real industry. “For this batch of participants, few of them has been selected for real job opportunities, and as annouced during the showcase, one of the student was selected as an ambassador for MonGalaxy for six months.

“There are also a few students who had been spotted by West Malaysia companies as a commercial talent, brand faces and event appearances”. Nikc clarifying on the job opportunities and benefits of participants joining Ain’t Just Model workshop.

Gary Cheok, from the judging panel, also an invited guest from MonGalaxy, gave his insight on the workshop. “In five days, to see the participants with zero knowledge in walking; in buying high heels; in walking a five inch heel, it is amazing to watch them (as they strut their stuff ), I feel extremely proud”. Sharing the same sentiment, Nikc agreed on the participants improvement in modelling. He stated that he was proud to see their performance on their grand showcase, as well as thanking instructors Nina Carron Kho and Winson Lim for their hard work.

When asked about their experience, 22-year-old Leon Jap who joined the workshop after being introduced by a friend for his love of modelling, an excited Leon said, “Aside from the basics, I also learnt the importance of a good attitude.”

“Without a good attitude, we cannot survive in this industry; actually without a good attitude, nobody can survive in any industry”, he explains his understanding that being nice can take you to many places. Feeling the importance to believe in himself, Leon clarifies that having the belief in doing is important. “Having a proper facial expression is important, especially when making a serious or cool expression, it is important to have the belief that we can do it, then only we can!”, said Leon.

Hailing from Kuching, a girl who is now more confident in cat-walking especially using those ‘killer heels’, Eileen Lau Tien Lin shared her experience throughout the workshop, “I’ve learnt the skills of cat-walking, body posture for photo shooting and the types of facial expressions for photo and video shooting.” Not only that, I also learn the how-to of dressing up appropriately when attending different events, and also the importance of it.” Eileen disclosed.

Not regretting the decision to join the Ain’t Just Model workshop, she sees improvement in her make-up and posing skills. “All in all, it is a great workshop, and there is still much more things for me to learn in this industry”, added Eileen. MonGalaxy is an online application that allows its users to showcase talent across Asean countries such as China, Taiwan and many more.

Ain’t Just Model official venue sponsor for the grand showcase is Viva City Shopping Mall Kuching and the workshop venue was sponsored by Level Up Fitness gym.
